South West United Hockey Club (SWU) competes in the Brisbane Hockey Association and the Brisbane Women’s Hockey Association. The club fields teams in the Men’s, Women’s, Girl’s and Junior (mixed Girls and Boys) competitions. The following information focuses on the mixed Junior competition.
Our players come from all over the south west corner of Brisbane, including Graceville, Corinda, Fig Tree Pocket, Kenmore, Jindalee, Forest Lake and Bellbowrie.
Mixed Junior Divisions
The following age divisions apply:

*Girls at the Under 13 level often choose to move to the Girls only competition at this stage. For details regarding the Girls competition, please contact the South West United Womens Club. **Players will also need to contribute to turf fees for training. This is usually less than $10 per week.
Training
For Under 7s, 9s, 11s

. Thursday evenings, from 6 – 7 pm. The first training session will be Thursday March 22, 2012.
J Squad & Under 13s

. Thursday evenings, from 6 – 7 pm. The first training session will be Thursday February 23, 2012.
The J Squad & Under 13′s also train on Turf weekly/fortnightly. Details on venue, days and times to be provided.
Season start and playing times
The junior season begins in late March/April and runs through until August/September. Games are held on Saturday mornings (except for the most senior J1s).
What do I need to play?
The club provides orange playing shirts, and all goalie gear.
Team members need to purchase playing shorts ($25) and orange/blue socks ($10), which are available at training.
Players will also need a stick, shin pads, suitable shoes for playing on grass (7s, 9s, 11s) or turf (13s, Js). Importantly, all players must also have a mouthguard.
You will also need to complete a Brisbane Hockey Association registration, a SWU Club Membership form and bring a copy of the player’s birth certificate to verify their age. All playing fees must be paid in full before the first game to ensure insurance cover.
